Covid Vaccination Uptake Dashboard

Covid Vaccination Uptake Dashboard

The next stage of the Government's COVID-19 response plan is to provide a pathway for towns and cities out of lockdown and give vaccinated New Zealanders more freedom. Vaccination will be the key to communities opening up safely, ensuring businesses, schools and organisations can continue to operate and will not be subject to future restrictions.

To support Local Government's push to encourage communities to get vaccinated, Dot Loves Data has developed a Covid Vaccination Portal showcasing Dose 1 and Dose 2 vaccination rates at a suburban or small community level. We have also modelled vaccination uptake by communities across New Zealand using local population demographics and characteristics. We used the following variables to understand what barriers communities face to vaccination uptake:

  • Education levels
  • Voter turnout
  • Time to nearest vaccination centre
  • Proportion of people aged over 29

There is a strong correlation between these local data characteristics and vaccination rates, which means some areas will need heightened education or awareness in order to improve vaccination rates, while others will need localised pop-up centres to improve accessibility to centres, particularly those in remote locations.

We model the weekly vaccination uptake via a time series graph to help you understand which interventions are successful and whether vaccination rates are accelerating or plateauing.

Dot Loves Data developed the Covid Vaccination in partnership with Ruapehu District Council.
